Unveiling
Unveiling

Last week I attended a party for my friend Margaret Fabrizio’s unveiling of her 26th quilt. It’s a wonderful quilt: scrappy corners made from her friend Alan’s boxer shorts around a central Superman panel. She calls it “Superquilt.” Margaret kept a video log, or “vlog” of the entire process while she was making it. You can see it on Youtube at this address:

She made about 30 videos of the process and Margaret has many interesting things to say on the subject. One wonderful part of this is that she is forming a community on the internet, using it for what it is good for. Just like during the 19th century when women used quilts to fight the isolation of the times, she is using the internet to fight the isolation of these times and the isolation of the quiltmaking process itself. It was a great party.
